President of Seegene Middle East receives commendation from Korean Minister of Health and Welfare at Medical Korea 2017

Nov 23, 2017

On November 21, Seegene Middle East President Park Ji-hoon received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare at Medical Korea 2017, hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and supervised by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.

Medical Korea is an international conference on general trends in and future prospects of the global healthcare industry, they selects and rewards exemplary individuals or institutions for their contributions to improving the credibility and/or raising awareness of Korea’s medical brands by attracting foreign patients to Korea or entering overseas markets.

This year, Seegene Middle East President Park Ji-hoon was recognized for his efforts to promote the excellence of Korean medical technology by entering and expanding the scope of Seegene sales in the molecular diagnostics markets of the Middle East and Africa as well as his contributions to the advancement of Korea’s health and medical industries.

Park’s award was especially significant in that he was the only representative of a medical device company to receive the ministerial commendation: all the other recipients were health and medical service personnel or affiliated with prominent Korean clinics/hospitals. This year’s commendation is Park’s second: in 2016, he received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy for his efforts to pioneer new foreign markets and increase the export volume of Korean medical supplies.

Established in Dubai in 2014, Seegene Middle East is currently expanding the scope of its sales activities by forging partnerships with local distributors in not only the UAE and Saudi Arabia but also various other countries, including Egypt, Algeria, and South Africa. As the company’s respiratory disease (including MERS-CoV) screening and women’s health related products are capable of simultaneously screening for multiple pathogens in a single test, they have become particularly popular among major national hospitals and test centers throughout the Middle East.

Park, who was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to pressing business in Dubai, conveyed his acceptance remarks as follows: “As the demand for diagnosis and treatment in the Middle East and Africa remains largely unmet, both markets have high growth potential. Going forward, Seegene Middle East will continue increasing the quality of local health and medical care and contribute to improving public health through Seegene’s molecular diagnostics products. We will also strive to ensure that Seegene does its part to enhance the brand image of the Korean medical industry based on our status as a pioneer and leader of Korean medical technology in the Middle East market.”
