The Jung Jin-Ki Journalism Culture Foundation selected Seegene to receive the Excellence Award in the Science and Technology Research category of the 35th Jung Jin-Ki Journalism Culture Awards. The awards ceremony was held on June 29 at the Maekyung Media Center, located in Seoul.
The Jung Jin-Ki Journalism Culture Award is a highly prestigious award that is presented to individuals or corporations that have made significant contributions to economic development and the advancement of science and technology in Korea by conducting innovative research in fields of science and technology or publishing outstanding works on economics or business management. Seegene received the Excellence Award in the Science and Technology Research category for its work in pioneering a new area of biotechnology through future-oriented research and development and the convergence of cutting-edge technologies, in addition to its contributions to the popularization of molecular diagnostics. This year, there were 10 candidates in the Science and Technology Research category, each of which was subjected to an exhaustive evaluation by the screening committee.
Seegene’s molecular diagnostics products have greater reputation in overseas than in Korea, with 85 percent of its total sales occurring in overseas. The company has been particularly well-received in Europe, where its market share is rapidly increasing. Seegene is also receiving significant attention in the global molecular diagnostics community for its project involving the use of a single platform for conducting over 100 molecular diagnostics tests.
