'The Latest Knowledge on HPV Test for Early Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer' Symposium

The 'Latest Knowledge on HPV Test for Early Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer' symposium, hosted by Women's Health Foundation (WHF) and Korean Research Foundation for Gynecologic Cancer (KRFGC) and sponsored by Seegene and Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (KSOG), was held at the Seoul Renaissance Hotel on September 18th. This symposium was focusing on to introduce various new human papilloma virus test methods for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer and promote them.

Distinguished guest speakers were invited to the symposium, including Dr. Chris Meijer, a Dutch pathologist particularly renowned in the area of human papilloma virus tests, and Prof. Jaegwan Lee from the ob/gyn department at Korea University. Under the theme of 'Change in the paradigm of cervical cancer diagnosis,' the speakers held forth on the clinical effectiveness of human papilloma virus tests for early diagnosis and on the status and prospects of human papilloma virus tests in Korea, respectively. And special invited speaker, Dr. Chris Meijer, who also participated and joined Seegene integrated symposium in ECCMID in Barcelona in May 2014, made a presentation on the effectiveness of HPV DNA testing.?

Following the presentations by the speakers, a panel discussion was held on the requirements for human papilloma virus tests for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer and promotion strategies with Professor Sooyoung Heo of the ob/gyn department at the Catholic University of Korea School of Medicine, Professor of Pathology Seongran Hong from the Catholic Kwandong University School of Medicine, Professor of Pathology Namhoon Cho from the Yonsei University School of Medicine, and Professor of Laboratory Medicine Hyunchan Cho from the Hallym University School of Medicine.

And with joining of over 20 guests from all over the world including Spain, Italy, Canada, Australia and more, made the symposium to have more various insights into the status of overseas human papilloma virus test fields

The symposium provided a great opportunity to exchange the latest knowledge on the direction of human papilloma virus test methods and verify the effectiveness of the human papilloma virus DNA test as a screening method for cervical cancers, and is expected to contribute to a shift in the paradigm of the global cervical cancer test market and provide an opportunity to derive global standards in the field of human papilloma virus test
