Seegene gives gift of hope by donating “Soap of Life”

Sep 30, 2016

The most easy and fundamental way of keep the personal hygiene to prevent infectious disease is hand washing. And washing hands with soap is much more effective in eliminating germs ? the major cause of spreading infectious disease, than washing with water alone.

As such, soap is an important everyday necessity that is closely connected to our personal health. However, in developing countries, it can be extremely difficult to maintain even the most basic level of hygiene.
To help children in such countries who have little access to soap, Seegene joined forces with the Bene School Foundation to create “soap bars of life.” Seegene employees first purchased organic soap kits from the Bene School Foundation, and then made soap at home with their families and loved ones, gaining a meaningful experience that highlighted the importance of giving. The finished bars of soap (together with handwritten messages from participants) will be sent through the Bene School Foundation to children in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) that have been classified by the UN.
A Seegene spokesperson said, “I discovered that making soap is not quite easy. Nevertheless, I had fun making bars of soap with my family in shapes that appeal to children, such as animals and flowers, all the while thinking of how happy the children receiving them will be. It’s just a small bar of soap, but it is satisfying to know that the soap will make at least a minor contribution to the health of children living in contaminated environment.”
