The 2014 Korean Society for Cytopathology Spring Conference was held at Eunmyung Auditorium, Severance Hospital in Sinchon on June 13th and 14th for 2 days.

The Korean Society of Cytopathology (KSC) holds a conference to share the latest knowledge and findings among doctors in cytopathology and related areas. Cytopathology is a branch of pathology that diagnoses various diseases by analyzing a specimen taken from the human body or obtained through other techniques such as absorption on the cellular level. It plays an important role in increasing the accuracy of diagnosis.

At this conference, Seegene introduced its product that detects and analyzes 28 types of human papilloma virus(HPV), which is the main cause of cervical cancer, using Multiplex Real-time PCR. This product can accurately identify 19 types of high-risk HPV, which are more likely to cause cervical cancers, and 9 types of HPV, which are less likely to cause cervical cancers but are linked to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as genital warts.
