Seegene Participates in Charity for Tuberculosis Patients and the neighbors in need.

Mar 24, 2013

Seegene participated in the ‘Charity Bazaar for Tuberculosis Patients and the neighbors in need, which was hosted by The Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, overseen by Beautiful Store, and held on the 3rd Annual Tuberculosis Prevention Day (March 22-23) at the Seoul Gwanghwamun Square. For the bazaar, the Seegene executive and staff members collected used home appliances, clothes, and books and delivered it to The Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, as well as helped Beautiful Store in selling the products on the day of.

One Seegene participant said, “It was good to see how the items that people usually did not use became a help to tuberculosis patients”. He/She also added that, “I hope there would continue to be these kinds of events to help patients suffering of tuberculosis”.

Unfortunately, Korea currently has the highest casualty and mortality for tuberculosis among the OECD countries, and is being named as an “underdeveloped country” in terms of coping with tuberculosis. Constant effort to raise awareness about tuberculosis and the importance of early diagnoses is needed to defeat one of the biggest threats to the people’s health.

Meanwhile, by supplying the Anyplex™II MTB/MDR/XDR Detection product, which is able to detect not only whether or not someone is affected by the tuberculosis, but also is able to find any drug resistances by checking 38 different mutations, Seegene is presenting a cheap and effective way to treat and manage tuberculosis patients.
