Seegene's in-house campaign to combat Tuberculosis

Dec 01, 2011

The world’s populations are thought to be infected with tuberculosis and 9.6% of people age between 15-59 are infected. The distribution of tuberculosis is not uniform across the globe; about 80% of the population in many Asian and African countries test positive in tuberculin tests, while only 5?10% of the U.S. population test positive. In Korea, approximately 34,157 people are infected and Korea’s TB incidence and mortality rates have been reported to be No.1 among OCED countries.

Similar to many developing countries, high incidence rates reported either between age 20-30s who usually actively involves with social life or elderly patients in Korea. Especially younger TB patients often have higher risk for spreading TB than elder patients.
World Health Organization, WHO is currently campaigning under ‘ STOP-TB’ slogan globally to focus chiefly on raising awareness about TB and advocating for greater commitment to and funding for TB prevention, treatment and research.

Seegene is also participating this global campaign by supplying TB detection kits for nations or organizations to benefit the patients who are suffering from TB and the world in a bigger picture. We expect Seegene’s innovative TB one-stop solution product which enables early diagnosis and accurately detects TB will make a great contribution to combat TB.
