The 1st STOP-TB Partnership in East Asia was held at the Seoul Education and Culture Hall on November 22-23 under the theme of 'National Partnerships for Health: Unity of Purpose, Complementarity of roles.' An international forum, it was co-hosted by the STOP-TB Partnerships in Korean National Tuberculosis Association and the WHO STOP-TB Partnership, with sponsorship from the Korea Center for Disease Control & Prevention and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. At the Forum, major global TB specialists including the High-level Mission of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, H.E. Jorge Sampaio (former president of Portugal), WHO high officials, authorities from member countries of the STOP-TB Partnership in South-East Asia Regions, and Korean government officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Center for Disease Control & Prevention participated to understand the current status of TB control in each country and discuss the role the STOP-TB Partnership can play in the eradication of TB. Seegene, in partnership with the Korean National Tuberculosis Association for TB eradication, participated as a sponsor for the Forum, and joined the movement for early eradication of TB by introducing the AnyplexII MTB/MDR/XDR Detection.
