NG & DR Assay
Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) is a major causative pathogen of STI and is one of the most commonly detected pathogens due to its high infection rate. NG can spread easily, but it is often asymptomatic and can be left unattended. When left untreated, NG can cause serious health problems including ectopic pregnancy and infertility.
As a way to treat NG, various types of antibiotics are used. However, there is a global concern regarding the recent increase in NGs that are resistant to two types of antibiotics, Azithromycin and Ciprofloxacin. Therefore, identifying NG infection and the presence of drug resistance simultaneously is crucial for effective and appropriate prescription.
Allplex™ NG & DR Assay is a multiplex real-time PCR assay that can accurately detect NG and drug resistance (Azithromycin,Ciprofloxacin) with a single test, and NG supplementary test is possible according to the WHO test guideline. It can also be used with Seegene’s other STI assay to provide informative STI screening.
