Participation in the 31st European Society of Clinical Microbiology (ECCMID 2021)

Jul 09, 2021

The European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID), which celebrated its 31st anniversary this year, was fully hosted online from July 9 to 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Seegene presented various molecular diagnostic tests, from new strategies that respond to coronavirus mutations to groundbreaking management of drug-resistant bacteria at this conference.

On the first day of the symposium, Dr. Idan Yelin from Israel and Dr. Federico Garcia from Spain presented the response to the change of molecular diagnostic test methods concerning the pandemic situation facing a new phase due to the rise of the vaccine administration and variants, under the topic of “The New Era of COVID-19".

On the second day of the symposium, the presentation was delivered with a focus on actual cases of converting diagnostic test methods for three antibiotic-resistant bacteria (CPE, ESBL, VRE), which are still mostly conducted through the means of culture tests in many laboratories, to molecular diagnosis, under the topic of “An Innovative Approach to Infection Control".

Meanwhile, through the Pre-ECCMID webinar held a month prior to the official conference opening date, Seegene stressed the importance of simultaneous testing for new variants that rapidly emerge and spread, and also introduced an All-in-One system that makes simultaneous testing easy under the topic of “Brand New Way to Check COVID-19 Variants”.

ECCMID is Europe's largest conference for clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, which is attended by more than 13,000 participants every year, covering topics such as the latest diagnostic methods and treatments for infectious diseases, new infectious diseases, infectious disease control, drug resistance, and etc.
