Seeplex® MTB Nested ACE Detection is designed to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), IS6110 and MPB64, using nested PCR. IS6110 is an insertion sequence present in the MTB genome. As most MTB have one to twenty copies of it, its presence is a useful indicator in tuberculosis tests. There have, however, been reports1)  of MTB strains without this gene, and in such a case, the accuracy of diagnosis can be enhanced by testing simultaneously for IS6110 and MPB64,2) which is a conserved sequence present in single copy in the MTB genome.
As simultaneously amplifying IS6110 and MPB64 genes based on the nested PCR, Seeplex® MTB Nested ACE Detection can effectively eliminate false negative results and be a useful method for detection of MTB.
