One-step Multiplex RT-PCR
While 2009 pandemic H1, seasonal influenza A and B have similar symptoms, they should be differentiated because the correct antiviral drug must be prescribed for efficacious treatment. 2009 pandemic H1, seasonal influenza A (H3), and seasonal influenza B viruses are susceptible to the neuraminidase inhibitor (Tamiflu); in contrast, seasonal influenza A (H1) is resistant to this drug. Also, influenza B virus is easier to catch in fall/winter and symptoms are similar to those of influenza A virus. Therefore, it is essential to differentiate between 2009 pandemic H1 and other seasonal influenza viruses for administration of the appropriate therapy and prevention of drug resistance.

If Influenza A(matrix, M gene) and influenza specific genes(hemagglutinin, HA) are detected, and Seasonal influenza A(H1, H3) gene are not detected, confirm to be positive for influenza.
