| Lamivudine, an oral nucleoside analogue drug, powerfully inhibits the proliferation of B-type hepatitis virus by
activating DNA polymerase, and as such is recognized as a safe and effective hepatitis drug. However, 10-15% of patients administered lamivudine for over two years, and over 50% administered for three years, develop
lamivudine-resistant virus, making treatment difficult. Thus, to effectively treat hepatitis B virus, since the
onset of lamivudine resistance varies according to patients, it is important to confirm the development of
lamivudine resistant HBV as soon as possible in order to alternative chemotherapy drugs currently in use with
more appropriate ones.
Note that single nucleotide mutations are responsible for drug-resistant HBV and make diagnosis difficult. Seeplex® HBV Lami-resistant ACE detects lamivudine-resistant HBV variants with a single nucleotide mutation in the viral DNA polymerase simply and accurately using DPO™ technology without the need for additional steps such as sequencing.

 |
| A. |
Simultaneous identification of mutations (YVDD, YIDD, L528M, & YSDD),
which cause lamivudine resistance in HBV. |
| B. |
Multiplex PCR with high sensitivity and specificity by applying DPO™ (Dual Priming Oligonucleotide) technology |
|
DPO™ based primers contain two priming parts so that only target gene is specifically amplified.

PCR amplicons are separated and analyzed automatically; consequently, rapid and easy interpretation of the results is made possible. |

Contamination Prevention System |
| |
One-time PCR reduces the carryover contamination risk, and 8-MOP, which is included in each set of products, eliminates the contamination risk from PCR. |
