Sepsis is a syndrome characterized by a generalized inflammatory
response due to infection, and is the one of leading killer in the
world. Severe sepsis strikes an estimated 750,000 people
every year and especially 37-50% of elderly people die of it.
If patients with sepsis are treated with adequate antibiotic regimens
as early as possible, the mortality rate can be reduced to 50%. |
|
| However, conventional method of detecting sepsis-causing pathogens - blood culture - is so
time-consuming that it is not appropriate for a patient in intensive care unit or an emergency
room. Among sepsis-causing pathogens, fungi are especially difficult to detect by blood
culture and thus prescribing proper medicine is delayed, causing the death of patient.
Moreover, excess administration of initial broad-spectrum antibiotics treatment may result in
developing resistance to antibiotics.
Unlike the blood culture method, Seeplex¢ç Sepsis DNA Test makes it
possible to do
early screening for sepsis.
The conventional method for sepsis diagnostics is blood culture; However, it takes up to 8
days for the result; therefore it is not apropriate for a patient in an intensive care unit or an
emergency room.
The Proprietary technology of Seeplex¢ç Sepsis DNA Test does not require for the blood
culture process and enables precise one-step screening for complex range of pathogens
at the earliest stage of disease development. This product can screen for 64 sepsiscausing
pathogens in total - 48 Gram (+) bacteria, 10 Gram (-) bacteria, and 6 fungi simultaneously,
leading to saving great amount of time. Additionally, 3 drug resistance genes (vanA, vanB,
and mecA) can also be discriminated.
Key Features:
- One-step screening for 64 sepsis-causing pathogens from whole blood, periodontal and caries joint fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, blood cultures, urine, sputum, and other body fluids
- Discrimination of 3 drug resistance genes
- Seeplex¢ç PCR with high specificity and sensitivitya
- Directly from 0.4 ml of whole blood
- 5 hours of turnaround time
- Low cost
- Application on high throughput auto-detection systems

Sepsis ID Set
The Seeplex¢ç Sepsis ID Set can identify 25 sepsis-causing pathogens from whole blood,
periodontal and caries joint fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, blood cultures, urine, sputum, and
other body fluids.

DPO¢â-based multiplex PCR overcomes the limitation of conventional PCR
method and makes the world-best products for multi-pathogen detection.
Seeplex¢ç Sepsis DNA Test resolves the problems in sensitivity, specificity, and
reproducibility of the conventional PCR method by applying Seegene's proprietary DPO¢â
technology. All Seegene's diagnostic products utilize DPO¢â for multi-pathogen detection.
New guideline for DNA Test on Sepsis-causing pathogens
Currently, physicians and clinicians need to choose among several tests with little
confidence the results will definitely identify that a patient does or does not have sepsis.
Molecular diagnostics presents great promise for the detection of sepsis-causing
pathogens due to a high sensitivity and specificity as well as rapidity of obtaining results.
Especially, Seeplex¢ç Sepsis DNA Test utilizes an innovative technology, which enables
high throughput test by combining with *auto electrophoresis devices (e.g.
ScreenTape¢ç
System, MCE-202 MultiNA, Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer).
